.
In an era dominated by bloated software ecosystems and heavy corporate frameworks, independent engineering is making a massive comeback. At the forefront of this shift is RhemeCore, an independent open-source software collective focused on high-performance system utilities, web architectures, and local AI integrations.
Behind this collective is Emir Aras Koç (widely known online as rheme18), a software and AI lead architect, security enthusiast, and open-source developer based in Turkey.
What is RhemeCore?
RhemeCore is built on a simple philosophy: software should be lightweight, blazing fast, and entirely transparent. Rejecting conventional software bloat, the collective focuses on building tools that give users absolute control over their hardware and local environments.

Key projects developed under this vision include:
RhemeSetup: A next-generation open-source Windows optimization and debloating utility designed to strip away unnecessary background noise, maximizing raw performance. (Submitted to the Winget package repository).
Rheme WebUI: A custom, streamlined Node.js and HTML front-end interface built to interact locally with lightweight LLMs (such as Ollama instances), keeping AI interactions private, local, and lightning-fast.

The Philosophy
Led by Koç, RhemeCore bridges the gap between low-level system optimization and modern artificial intelligence. By refusing to rely on heavy, resource-wasting dependencies, the collective proves that solo and independent development can rival institutional output through pure architectural efficiency.

We’ve all been there. You just finished a clean Windows installation, and now you have to spend the next two hours downloading browsers, installing runtimes, fixing annoying registry settings, and uninstalling pre-installed bloatware.

To automate this tedious process, I decided to build my own desktop toolkit. Meet RhemeSetup—a modern, portable, and completely open-source Windows assistant.

The Tech Stack: Why Electron & Winget?

I wanted a clean, fully customizable dark-themed user interface, so I chose Electron and Chromium for the frontend (Vanilla JS, HTML, CSS).

For the heavy lifting, the Electron main process and Node.js services securely communicate with the OS to execute Windows commands and run PowerShell scripts.

Instead of hosting installers or scraping websites, the app utilizes Microsoft’s native Winget package manager backend. This keeps the application incredibly lightweight, fast, and secure.

Core Features

One-Click Batch Installs: Select from dozens of curated applications and let Winget handle the parallel installations.

System Debloater: Instantly wipe out pre-installed Windows bloatware.

Advanced Tweaks: Apply performance tweaks, maintenance shortcuts, and customize your OS profile safely.

Sleek UI: Fully responsive interface supporting both English and Turkish, light/dark modes, and multiple accent colors.

Open Source & Privacy First

RhemeSetup is licensed under the MIT license. It requires no installation, runs portably, and preserves your privacy by keeping all user configurations strictly inside your local Windows profile.

I would love to get your feedback on the architecture, UI design, or features!

Let me know in the comments: What is the first tweak or app you always install on a fresh Windows machine?
